No refunds will be given unless a league is cancelled or a team cannot be accommodated in the league of their choice.
C. ROSTER ELIGIBILITY Players must be at least 18 years of age. With a parent’s written consent and liability waiver, players 17 years of age may be accepted. In order to play in the championship tournament, all players must be on a current roster and must have played in at least one regular season game. Questions of player eligibility must be brought to the attention of the officials and BFSC staff BEFORE the match ends. Once the match ends, no protest will be considered.
D. ROSTER MIN. / MAX.
Rosters may have up to 12 players (minimum of six players required). Teams must start games with a minimum of four players on the court; otherwise, it is a forfeit.
E. INSURANCE

F. GAME BALLS
Eight volleyballs will be furnished by the BFSC for games only. Teams must provide additional volleyballs for warm-ups.
G. UNIFORMS
Uniforms will no longer be provided by the BFSC. Appropriate, modest attire must be worn.
H. LEAGUE STANDINGS
Final league standings will be determined by the overall win/loss record. If two teams are tied at the end of the regular season, the team which defeated the other more often in head-to-head competition will take the top position.
GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS
A. RULES OF PLAY
The current United States Volleyball Association Rules apply to all league situations not covered in this handbook. The Barney Family Sports Complex reserves the right to institute new rules or alter new rules as deemed necessary.
B. MATCH TIME
League play will be scheduled at 9:30 and 10:30 PM. There will be ten minutes allotted for warm-ups before each game (as needed). Games will start no later than 9:40 and 10:40PM.
C. MATCH PLAY
League play matches will consist of playing the best out of three games. The first two games are to 25 points (rally scoring) and the third game is to 15 points (rally scoring).
D. SCORING
In rally scoring, points are awarded on each play, regardless which team serves, as opposed to the traditional side-out system. A game is won by the team that has scored 25 (or 15) points and is at least 2 points ahead. There is no point limit. Games will only be cut short due to time.
E. TIME LIMIT
A time limit of 50 minutes will be in effect for league play. If the third game is not completed by the end of 50 minutes, the team ahead in points at that time will be declared the winner. If the teams are tied at the time limit, the next point is the winner. There will be no time limit for matches in the post-season tournament.
F. TIME OUTS
Teams will be granted two 30-second time outs per match.
G. SUBSTITUTION
Free substitution is allowed only during dead balls. Substitution is not permitted during live ball play.
H. PLAYER (Co-Rec) REQUIREMENTS
A maximum of three males are allowed on the court at all times. Teams may play with a minimum of four players.
J. RETURN OF SERVICE Serves may be returned by bump pass or set, as long as the set is clean with no violation or obvious lift. Each player must be within their own area during service. At service, all players (except the server) must be within court boundaries. A player may leave the court to play a ball; non-playable areas or player interference will be interpreted at the discretion of both teams involved.
PLAYER/TEAM CONDUCT
A. BEHAVIORAL CONDUCT
Each captain is responsible to see that his/her players, spectators, scorekeepers, etc. abide by all the rules governing league play and all rules/policies regarding the use of the facility.
B. BFSC RIGHTS The Barney Family Sports Complex reserves the right to discipline and/or suspend players, or captains for incidents/conduct not specifically covered in their house rules or the United States Volleyball Association official rules, but which in the opinion of the Barney Family Sports Complex constitutes unsportsmanlike conduct, dangerous conduct, or conduct which is determined to be detrimental to the BFSC volleyball program. All official league disciplinary decisions, as rendered by the Barney Family Sports Complex, are final.
